This introductory course is designed to provide entry level professionals with the core knowledge and practical skills necessary to support commissioning activities for a variety of building control subsystems. The curriculum is designed to familiarize participants with the unique features, integration methods, and commissioning requirements of specialty systems, including:
- Overview of fire alarm, security (CCTV and access), lighting control, and plumbing system controls—explaining the function, key components, and purpose of each system.
- Step-by-step guidance on the standardized commissioning process, including pre-functional checklists, functional testing protocols, system documentation, and verification of alarms, sequences, schedules, and user interfaces.
- Instruction on inspection techniques, proper use of meters and testing devices, and data collection for quality assurance.
